This is an about 8.3 mile mainly downstream race on the Bayou Teche, from the Loreauville, LA Teche Project Boat Launch, ending at the 214 Edgewater Drive dock in New Iberia, LA

Top of the Teche April 18, 2026 -2026 results (new)

A 7.7 mile race for kayaks, canoes, pirogues, and SUP’s from Leonville to Arnaudville in St. Landry Parish. Meet fellow paddlers and we have classes for every kind of craft and your registration includes Lunch.

we gather at the Leonville boat dock near the only Bridge in town for the start. There may be a shuttle at the start about 8:00 am

you need to have your boat paddle gear and paddles at the starting area where it will be watched and then you leave your car/truck/trailer at the finish just 18 minutes away and get a ride back to the start for the race safety meeting and start.

@Leonville Boat Launch 129 Mistric St. in Leonville, Louisiana also at the town water tower.

7:30 AM – 9AM Boat check - Registration YES shuttle between 8 and 8:15 (meet at start) leave boats and gear at start. 9:30 AM Opening Ceremony

May 9, 2025 - Saturday TDT CHITIMACHA on the Bayou Teche- 10 MILES- Online May 09, 2026 @Jeanerette, LA 10 miles - complete for 2026

A 10-mile race for kayaks, canoes, pirogues, and SUPs from Jeanerette, LA to Charenton, LA through the parishes of Iberia and St. Mary. The race begins in Jeanerette City Park and ends on the Chitimacha Reservation (new Chitimacha Boat Landing). We welcome all paddlers and any types of canoes, kayaks, and stand-up paddle boards. The registration includes a Lunch, snacks and a drink after the race. Limited T-Shirts will be available for sale,

Jeanerette City Park 1603 Tarleton St, Jeanerette, LA 70544 7:00 AM race start area setup boats can be left at starting area. 7:30 AM day of race registration opens. 8:00 AM shuttle departs from start area @ Jeanerette City Park drives to end, loads paddlers in vehicle for return to start area; leaves other vehicles at end. 8:40-45 AM- paddlers return from shuttle back at start area 9:15 AM Opening Ceremony 7:45 AM – 9:15 AM Boat check waiver signing 9:30 am Race Starts (all classes) - we will not start until all racers are present or known to be not racing Race ends Chitimacha Boat Launch ;shirts are given at awards ceremony after last boat arrived at finish

2026 event May 9, 2026 was cancelled due to Thunderstorms and bad weather the whole day.

We had to cancel this event officially at 10:30 am on Saturday May 9, 2026;Thunderstorms keep coming. We had several delays but the storms were more and more intense. All participants received a T-Shirt and a meal. Thanks to our volunteers, Janet Perry and Claire Andrus and the safety boats from Iberia and St Mary Parish.We will plan to host our event again in early May 2027.
